Set up email and understand your domains
In Settings → Email, connect your own Resend account, choose your domains, add the displayed DNS records, and complete the readiness checklist. Growth's marketing features require your own Resend API key. Resend's sending allowances and charges are separate from your HelpWell plan.
A support sending address can use your main domain. A newsletter subdomain such as news.example.com gives marketing email a distinct sending identity. These names are choices, not mandatory prefixes.
A reply domain receives messages and sends them into the correct HelpWell conversation. Outgoing support messages use signed Reply-To addresses for threading. You can use a dedicated receiving subdomain or Resend's managed receiving address if one is available in your account.
Add only the records shown for each purpose. Sending-domain records normally live under subdomains and do not replace the MX records used by your existing Google Workspace or other mailbox provider. If you want new messages to your familiar support address to enter HelpWell, configure forwarding for that specific address separately.
Set the sender name, company name and postal address. Send both test emails to yourself, reply to the support test, and check that Test reply received turns green. The Support inbox test verifies the receiving path; forwarding from an existing mailbox must also be configured and tested when you use one.
