Save an article as a draft or unpublish it
Every article has a status. To keep work in progress hidden, set the status to draft and select Save. To take a published article back, open it in the editor, change its status to draft and select Save.
#Save an article as a draft
#Open the editor
Go to Knowledge base. Start a new article, or open an existing one in the editor.
#Set the status to draft
Pick draft in the status list. New articles start as drafts.
#Add a title
A draft still needs a title. A new draft also needs a collection.
#Select Save
Select Save. The article is saved with the draft status.
You can save a draft with an empty body. HelpWell only rejects an empty body when the status is published, so you can save an unfinished draft and come back to it. Previewing never runs this check.
#Unpublish a published article
#Open the article in the editor
Go to Knowledge base and open the published article for editing.
#Change the status to draft
Pick draft in the status list.
#Select Save
Select Save. The article keeps its content and is now a draft.
#Publish it again
Open the draft, set the status to published and select Save. The body must not be empty.
#Your changes are kept in history
Each save adds a new version to the article's history. A restore saves an older version again as the newest one, so history is only added to, never rewritten. If the old version matches what the article says now, nothing changes.
Note
If your install can't save articles from the dashboard, Save gives you the file instead of writing it. In that case, the status change takes effect only once you add the file to your content yourself.
