Open and share your help center
Your hosted help center is at https://<slug>.<hosted domain>, where <slug> is your product's slug. Copy that address from the browser and share it. If you have a live custom domain, the help center answers there too.
#Before you open it
HelpWell sets up a new hosted product first. This takes a few seconds, and the page refreshes when it is ready. The status shows Setting up until then and Hosted once it is ready.
If setup stops, the product shows Needs attention and says what went wrong. Select Try again on the product page.
If you have more than one product, pick the right one in the product switcher first. A product marked "(your install)" runs on your own HelpWell install. Its help center is managed there, not here.
#Addresses your help center answers on
| Address | When it works |
|---|---|
https://<slug>.<hosted domain> | Always, for a hosted product |
Your custom domain, such as help.acme.com | Once the domain is live |
The hosted domain is set by whoever runs your HelpWell Cloud server. See the custom domains guide to set up your own address.
#What readers see
Your workspace brand shapes the help center. You set it in Settings → Branding:
- The logo shows in the header. In the dark scheme, the dark-mode logo shows instead.
- The icon is the browser-tab icon.
- The primary colour is the accent colour.
Readers also see an "Ask" button. It uses your AI agent's name. The default name is Fern, and you can change it in Training → Agent.
After you save branding, it is copied into every ready hosted product at once.
Note
Readers only see the articles you have published. Drafts stay hidden. See "Save an article as a draft or unpublish it".
