Choose which areas your AI assistant can use

Your AI assistant only gets the tools for the areas you switch on. Essentials are always on.

You choose areas when you connect the assistant, on the consent page. You can change them later in Settings → AI assistants.

#What is always on

Essentials let the assistant do the basics. It can:

  • see what is set up in your workspace
  • read and write help center articles
  • read and answer a conversation
  • look up a contact

#The areas you can switch on

AreaWhat it covers
Support inboxAll conversation actions, saved replies, email that is not for the inbox, notifications, agent training, reports and activity.
Help centerArticles and their history, collections, unanswered questions, the AI agent’s conversations, changelog, help center settings and domains, and code updates.
ContactsContacts, tags, consent, duplicates, suppressions, segments and custom fields.
In-app messages and formsPop-ups, banners, tours, surveys and chat messages, and forms.
JourneysAutomations: build, publish, pause and test journeys, and follow who is in them.
Email marketingNewsletters, email templates and enrichment of confirmed form signups.
Email setupSending and receiving domains, sender identity, the support inbox, test emails and sending limits.
Workspace setupProducts, branding, the AI model, team and invitations, notifications, Slack, security and the audit log.

#Change the areas later

  1. #Open the settings

Go to Settings → AI assistants.

  2. #Switch areas on or off

Choose the areas you want this connection to use.

  3. #Start a new chat

The change applies from the assistant's next chat, when it lists its tools again.

#Email marketing depends on your plan

The Email marketing area is only available if your plan includes email marketing. If it does not, the assistant does not see newsletter tools. After you upgrade, they appear without you changing the connection.

#If the assistant says a tool is unavailable

The assistant is told why. Usually it is one of these:

  • The area is off. Switch it on in Settings → AI assistants.
  • The connection is read only. Change it to Read and manage in Settings → AI assistants.
  • Your role can't use it. Your role in the workspace decides which tools you can use.
  • Your plan does not include email marketing.

Note

Your role in the workspace still applies. Switching on an area does not give an assistant more access than you have.
